After 43 years in business, Jim Dreeben, owner of Peconic Paddler, has decided to sell the property to the Town of Southampton and paddle off into the sunset. But, we will be open, and, business as usual, until the end of the 2008 paddling season. If you need, desire or crave a canoe or kayak now is the time to get one (or 2 or 3). Everything must go. Some discounted prices are ridiculously low but that's OK. I want to help you as you have supported me for 43 years. Come on down and make your best deal.                  

This season we will have 3 seasoned paddlers on premises. Larry paddles a Pungo 140 with comfortable Phase 3 seat or a Solstice GT Titan made of Kevlar. He can advise you which is the best canoe or kayak to suit your needs.

Jared paddles a 26 pound Raven or an Ocean Kayak sit-on-top Kea made for pint sized paddlers. He is here only part time as his 1st grade class interferes with his paddling and selling. He really knows his (small) kayaks and lightweight paddles.

I am a paddler too and I try to paddle everything in stock. My favorite kayak is the 18'10" Nomad made by Current Designs. It is fast and right at home in all open water conditions. I also enjoy ocean surfing on a Yak Board or any sit-on-top kayak from Ocean Kayak.

New in 2008 - 4 Demo Days. You may test paddle a bunch of kayaks and some canoes. Saturday July 12 is manufacturers demo day from 10am until 4pm. Peconic Paddler demo days - Sunday May 18. Sunday June 22. Saturday August 16.

Winter Store Hours - In winter, we are open Friday and Saturday from 8AM to 4PM.

Sea Kayaks are very stable and easy to use. Anybody can paddle one and our kayak professionals will give you a few starter tips.

When you rent a kayak from us we launch into the Peconic River and paddle out to the bay with a side trip thru the bird sanctuary. A great place for ornithologists.

If you want to relax, get a suntan, fish, picnic, snorkel or swim you can stop at Indian Island County Park or Iron Point Beach. They both have beautiful long, white, sandy beaches. There are also many creeks and coves that you can explore at a leisurely pace.

If you are full of energy and want to burn a few calories…and get a real workout you can paddle your butt off with one of our more advanced (FAST) kayaks. Sure beats the Ab-Flex and Girth Master.

We also sell the models we rent plus lots more. Our retail store stocks over 700 kayaks, canoes and rowing shells.
